Predicted Grades movement?

DD got predicted grades today and they're one grade lower than she needs for the courses she's looking at (ABC / 120 points, she needs 128 so AAC or ABB)

School have sent comms out saying 'respect our decision/ don't pressure us to change them' etc etc. But there's 6 months till the forms go in... has anyone been able to pull grades up between predicted and submission? Is there any flex in your experience or is that it?

Need to decide if the approach is acceptance and look around at other options, or pep talk and work hard to pull them up (she's prioritised her pt job this year, defo could have put more in).

Just my tuppence worth - DS2 was predicted BCC at the end of Y12. He re-sat all his exams at the start of Y13 and predicted grades on UCAS were raised to BBB. He received all 5 offers ranging from ABB to BBC. He ended up with BCC, so bang on the school's original predictions! His insurance had originally offered BBC (foundation year) but accepted him on results day. He has just passed the foundation year and in my opinion was the best thing for him.
DS1 was predicted AAB, after re-sitting the B got it raised to AAA for the courses he was applying for. Got one offer (competitive course) for AAB. Come results day - AAC and lost his place. Got a great offer in clearing and just about to graduate and continue with a Masters at the same Uni. But again, school pretty much spot on with their original predictions.
My tip - apply for a range of grade requirements and be ready on results day with a shortlist just incase. It involves looking at every Uni's website individually that might be of interest to see what's available. It won't do any harm to look this year (the night before results day), but clearing does change year on year.

She could apply the following year with grades in hand, but she might not get higher ones. Dd's were correct

I think this is definitely your best way forward. DD to do loads of study over summer, then approach her teachers herself, and ask them how she can prove that she is worthy of higher predicted grades and a timescale to achieve that.
A good few years ago now, but DS was in a similar position. His work in Y12 was worthy of the PG (aspirational!) , he pestered the teachers to increase them to give him more choices of uni. They gave him the benefit of the doubt, against their better judgement. In Y13, everything changed, he matured, something clicked, and he ended up with AAA! And top of his year in the subject that he’d struggled most with at the beginning of Y12. He then took a year out to reevaluate his options, and reapplied the following year for a different but related course. No regrets.
Very best of luck to your DD.

Thanks everyone for your considered replies, really appreciated.

She hasn't given even 80% in Y12, her B she was aiming for an A. The C is fair I think.

Disappointed though she is, it's given a kick up the proverbial to pull it together. If she gets the current predicted's having put her best foot forward, then we can live with that, it's the not having given it all that stings.

She has a plan to get her shit together over the summer, revision notes, re-reading etc and then will approach teacher for the B subject to see if they will re-evaluate. I've said I'll stay out of it, it's on her to make her pitch and then convince them by demonstrating in her work (ie she takes ownership for the negotiation and the delivery, I can't do it for her).

Over summer we'll look at courses / unis at range of book offers and keep an open mind.

Thanks again.

This is what I’m agreeing with! 😊
