Have applied for DSA - what next?

I am trying to leave this to DD, but was hoping to get some information from others who've been through the DSA application process, so I can back away gracefully :)

DD applied for DSA at the start of May, at the same time as her application for a student loan. She was contacted quite soon afterwards asking for more information, which she provided. She's heard nothing since. I don't know if she should chase it up or if this is the normal timescale for processing applications. I guess I was expecting her to have had an assessment/chat/whatever by now?

Can anyone shed any light? TIA.

The next stage will be a letter/email stating whether she is eligible or not for DSA support. If she is, then the letter/email will tell her what to do next. From memory they list some approved assessors which she can choose to contact to arrange the actual assessment.
The assessor will have a meeting with your DD (usually phone or zoom) and suggest all the different ways that your DD may be helped and confirm in a written report. That then needs to be agreed by SF.
If agreed, she will be given a supplier to contact to book everything suggested but the original assessor.
It is quite complicated - the emails are quite long-winded and my DD needed help working out what to do at each stage. The main thing is to keep checking for emails.

Has she checked on the student finance website to see if she needs to upload anything else? There is a bit where you click to check the progress of the dsa application. I know we had to re upload his birth certificate and doctors letter. As far as I remember, it was all done through emails and we had an email confirming acceptance fairly quickly. Then we had an email inviting him to a face to face or zoom meeting. He's had his zoom, had the recommendations approved - it was all sorted by the middle of June. I'd definitely chase it up by checking the finance website.

I’d probably check the status of application and chase up. She should have heard by now

My DS applied in May and got an email a week or so later to say that his evidence was not accepted. We had to reupload one of his diagnosis and go to the GP to get a form filled in for the other. Managed to upload the GP form 1st July (as had waited until his exams were over!) Now he is waiting to hear but the website says it can take 6 weeks. Make sure your DD has checked her email.

Has she definitely not had any emails? If not she needs to ring DSA as soon as possible - don't email as it will take 2 weeks to get a reply. If she was accepted then she will have had an email with an attached letter from DSA saying she has been accepted and an email from either StudyTech or Capita asking her to book her Needs Assessment. If refused she should have had an email from DSA asking her to send additional evidence.

Thanks for the responses. It seems as though it's odd that DD hasnt heard anything. I will encourage her to chase up!
