2nd choice Liverpool or Newcastle?

Dd is struggling to name her second choice. She finds it really hard to make a decision. She looked round Newcastle and loved it, but wasn’t able to go to Liverpool. First choice Edinburgh. Accommodation seems pretty similar as does the distance to uni buildings etc. Liverpool offer slightly lower. Anyone got any insight into how the 2 compare? It’s for law. She is academic but quite anxious and overthinks. Not a huge party animal, has never taken drugs, never had a boyfriend or girlfriend but does like going out with friends and music.

@HelsinkiSummer It seems an odd choice to me. You can of course say lots “flip” careers and in engineering and other mathsy degrees, lots do. When they finish and review salaries. Law? Most want to be lawyers when they start. After they finish is another matter. This DD doesn’t want a law career at all. So where she goes won’t make much difference really.

Practicing Law is not the holy grail for everyone and Law is an interesting degree in its own right. Edinburgh is a very good University and a law degree from there will stand the DD in a very good stead for many careers. I really don't get your point. It is no different from studying engineering whilst thinking you will pursue a different career afterwards. Lots do right from the outset.

If it’s a second choice I’d make sure it’s a proper backup and look carefully at the grade requirements. I know a few kids who were super confident last year of achieving the grades and just put very a slightly lower offer as an insurance then missed out on both choices.

Ucas have a new tool that’ll tell you what grades unis actually take - data of previous applicants.
