We are off to Bristol tomorrow to look at accommodation locations.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

DS is doing history and is very sporty (football).

Alright, UWE crew! I'm about to join your ranks and I'm buzzing, but also kinda stressed about finding a place to crash. Can anyone give me the 411 on student accommodation near the University of the West of England? What's the word on Bristol's student life? I've heard it's pretty diverse - true story? Oh, and has anyone dealt with Uninist for accommodation? They're saying they've got the best student digs in Bristol, but I'd love some real talk from you guys. How do you balance the uni grind with Bristol's social scene? Any must-know tips for a UWE freshman? Cheers!

@Annie2Cambell Save for the bus fares into Bristol. UWE isn’t central. Get a hall of residence? Avoid Clifton where it’s expensive and stay near UWE.

TizerorFizz · 17/07/2024 14:28

Presumably you are a journalist? Uni grind? What’s that?

Annie2Cambell · 18/07/2024 11:52

Yea, You guessed it right. I am a journalist try to make ends meet. But thanks for the advice.

TizerorFizz · 18/07/2024 12:24

@Annie2Cambell I thought Grind was a brand of coffee. I’d give careers advice on not being a journalist if you don’t earn much.

The thread is about the proper Bristol University rather than ex polytechnic UWE - was called Bristol Polytechnic, but there may well be non Bristol U people who can answer. for those at the proper Bristol year one halls in Stoke Bishop which are catered are best. I had 2 at Wills Hall and one at Churchill. All 3 children enjoyed their time there at Bristol University.

mumsneedwine · 18/07/2024 15:06

No hall is the 'best'. All halls are full of students who will find other students who like things they like. Wherever they end up, they will think is the 'best'.

@TizerorFizz I meant "uni grind" as in grinding and working hard at UNI. How to balance that? That's true it is kinda hard rn to earn well in this profession but trying my best with it. But juggling both work and uni at the same time gonna take a toll on me. So maybe a career change after my master's is the best option.
Thanks for the advice.

@mumsneedwine Well said your friend circle can make or break one's uni experience. Hopefully, I can find people like me.
