Bath Spa and Chichester university

My daughter really likes both universities and is in the process of deciding where she wants to go. She has an unconditional offer at Bath Spa and a conditional offer of her predicted grades at Chichester conservatoire. Studying music at both.

Anyone have experience of either universities or cities? I can see her at both places. If she accepts the unconditional all other offers are not required. School said to check the conditions as she could put conditional offer first and unconditional second. Then await results day to make her decision.

Anyone else have experience of this or is it best just to go with the unconditional offer? Any advice gratefully received. Many thanks

My niece is graduating from Chichester Conservatoire this summer, and has loved everything about the course and the uni.

My undergrad is from Chichester in music. It's over a decade since I graduated but I go back regularly as many friends remained in the area. I loved my time there but personally would have liked a bit more in terms of rigorous academia. That said, it's not held me back and I've gone on to study elsewhere for an MA and PhD as well as various professional qualifications in education. Ben Hall is fabulous, Laura Ritchie has so much passion and energy and Crispin Ward is inspirational as a performer. I definitely wouldn't discount it and whilst I might make a different choice now, I don't regret my time there.

Chichester as a city is lovely and contrary to popular belief does have a reasonable night life scene. My only advice from that respect is don't be fooled into thinking it's automatically safe because it's rich (expensive) and relatively quiet. It's definitely safe compared to some places but the patter given by the university on this can give too much reassurance leading to some students leaving themselves unnecessarily vulnerable.

We loved the open day and audition day. Definitely not discounting it.

Thank you. It seems a lovely place and the conservatoire seems great. Bath is closer to us but she isn't discounting it. Thanks for the advice.

I did a PGCE at Bath Spa a few years ago. It's a lovely campus a few miles outside Bath. We live in Bath and it is a good city for my teenagers, small enough to get around easily.

It's quite busy with tourists though and I have heard it can be a bit on the expensive side.
