What after A levels

I know this is a long way off, but I'm so excited for DS and his future it got me thinking.

He is considering A Level - Business, Economics and Chemistry.

Does anyone have any advice on what he could do with these?

OP, if your DC wants to choose business and economics related career path and consider relevant courses in Uni, I would suggest that he might want to choose maths a level over chemistry and which would open more doors.

@Seriously79 What are his “best” subjects at school at the moment? I assume he probably isn’t taking either business or economics at GCSE? So why these A levels? Is it purely career driven without realising how important maths is for economics? Does he have 8 and 9 projections?

@Seriously79 If he is interested in both business and economics is he thinking of a career in finance / accountancy? My friend’s DS has just started a degree at Reading which is mix of study and (paid) placements with a Big 4 accountancy firm. After 4 years he will have finished his accountancy exams and be guaranteed a job (IIRC). He applied for their Sixth Form intern scheme in year 11, I think, which stood him in good stead for getting onto this course. His A levels were business, biology and something else (PE maybe?). Maybe worth looking into Sixth Form schemes with the big banks and finance firms if that is what interests him.

There’s also a lot more to business than finance. Eg HR, Marketing, Legal, Sales etc. Lots of degrees explore all these areas. Lots of degree holders can become accountants or train in business functions. It certainly can be worth exploring routes that are not university.
