Bills Packages for Student Houses

DS has just secured a house for his second year.
I know it's early but does anyone have DC with experience of using UniHomes (or similar) for a bills package?
Not sure if it's a total rip off or worth it for lack of hassle in arranging suppliers and having to be liable for each others bills.
Any comments?

My ds has used it this year and I think it is def more expensive but it's been so straightforward and there is no fannying about getting everyone to chip in etc. he's with the uni homes one I think and has the whole caboodle with broadband. So would def recommend and will do for his y3 unless it turns out to be a drama at the end of the term.

That's helpful, thanks.

Yep ds has done this for the past 3 years and it has worked really well, i was very dubious at first! He says he thinks it might cost slightly more but takes the stress out of bills and ensures everyone pays. For him also as it is a set Direct debit he can budget.

If he trusts his housemates there needn't be fannying around. My son and friends just split responsibility for different bills and transfer to each other. Works out cheaper for them all and that's more important to them.

Tbh he doesn't know his house mates well enough to know! Obviously they get on but they have only known each other since Sept!
I think it also takes the stress out of the organising too.
After a year they could change if they think they could get it cheaper I guess. The unlimited nature of the usage is also a benefit. Stops them living in a cold, damp house growing mould I guess!

I think the extra is probably worth it, given the number of stories of flatmates not paying their share etc etc. Every student comes across them! Also, the sorting out of bills is otherwise left to one person, often.

It’s definitely worth it. Gives peace of mind and also means they don’t have to worry about whether to put the heating on or not etc. Saves any disagreements over this.

DD is in a large Victorian terrace type house with big rooms and high ceilings - it would be expensive to heat and although I think the package is a bit more expensive I think it’s worth it!
