A level subjects

Im in yr12 transitioning to yr13. My A levels are Maths, Economics, Business studies and Computer science. Im going to drop either Computer Science or Business as the workload is too much. In Business Im achieving A/A* while in Computer Science Im achieving low B's. I find Computer Science boring and will most likely achieve a B by the end of year 13.

Preferably i would like to drop Computer Science however I've been warned to stay away from the Business Economics overlap.

I want to apply for Economics at universities with requirements AAA - A*AA. What will be the best option going forward? Emailed and called some unis but majority are not answering.

6th form tutor here. Drop the lowest performer. Easy choice. Don’t worry about the combo so much - better to ensure the grades. Good luck!

In addition to the really sensible advice above that you drop your lowest performing subject you might find this guide useful

Good luck. You’re obviously doing really well at school and will have some great options open to you at University.

Pick a route | Informed Choices

What you study at sixth form or college can affect your options at university and your future career. Use Informed Choices to help you understand which subjects open up different degrees, particularly at Russell Group universities.

Drop the lowest-performing one - computer science.

Agree with the above 95% of the time - drop the lower grade.

Only slight concern would be if you had a particular university you wanted to attend, had a good chance of getting a place, but were disadvantaged by the overlap.

May be worth checking each uni's site as LSE, for example, have Business Studies listed as a 'non-preferred' subject. Computing is on their preferred list though.

Im thinking of applying to places such as Bristol, Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester, loughborough. None have mentioned the Economics and Business overlap although Im still sceptical. Am i fine apply to these places ? Or should i reconsider taking on computer science with a slim chance of getting an A.

LSE, Durham, Warwick state they advise against Business and Economics.

Where are you seeing that Durham and Warwick don't accept economics and business as a combination? I can't see it on their websites. Warwick consider accounting and business as being too close.
