Will I get universal credit aswell as student finance?

Currently in the process of leaving partner of 9 years with children together.
I am a third through a degree in psychology which I have been doing part time up until now.
With leaving my partner I will need to go onto universal credit to support my children as youngest is still just a toddler.

Question is, if I go full time doing my degree would I be entitled to universal credit and student finance?
My mum said she got both as a single mother about 13 years ago (I have 6 siblings and the youngest is only 13 now)

I'm trying to figure out my future now. It all seems a mess right now.

Yes but your UC will be reduced depending on how much student loan you get, for the 9 or 10 academic months of the year. Call citizens advice and they should be able to give you a good idea of how much UC you could expect. Sending you best wishes OP, it’s a horrible situation to be in

Your DM probably got tax credits which were much more generous if you were a student.

Yeah she did get tax credits, would universal credit not be as supportive? I worry I won't be able to study as if I stay part time I will be forced into looking for work, which stresses me out as I already struggle with finding the time to study aswell as run a house with 4 kids.
There has to be a light at the end of this surely
I will look into contacting citizens advice, I fobbed them off not too long ago regarding sorting council tax (cause exdp told me to) so worry what they'll say Blush

Get in touch with the money advice team at your uni, they’ll be able to help. Not just with this but with any additional bursaries or funding you can get, as well as checking your student finance is correct for your new circumstances.

With UC, they won’t expect you to work if you are a full-time student. You will likely get maximum maintenance loan (approx £12k ) but your UC will be reduced, taking your maintenance loan as income/earnings. I think the first £110 per month is disregarded in this calculation. Also, part of the maximum maintenance loan will be disregarded, I think it’s called the special support grant. That part is not repayable and does not count for UC.

You won’t need to pay council tax if your husband has moved out and your children are still in full time employment education. Citizens advice are great, don’t be worried. Hopefully your ex will be paying child maintenance (which will not be taken into account for UC).
