When you had DC who lived at home for uni, how often did they go into university outside of mandatory classes and lectures?

I.e. did they ever go in "just to study" or "just to revise"?

My DDs didn’t stay at home, but others they knew did stay at home. Some studied in the library, worked in the studios, and stayed on after lectures for coffee etc. Sport is obviously available and clubs. London has quite a lot living at home and they joined in with lots of socials and went out with friends etc because they could get home. DD2 was friends with several who did this.

DD1, not in London, knew only one DD living at home and they got the bus home so were not seen much. Obviously no presence in hall events.

Therefore experiences vary. The attitude of the student varies too. Some don’t want to join in. They just attend lectures, do a bit of work, and go home. In London it’s very different.

Not sure my 2 DC ever went in just to study or just to revise but they frequently went in just to socialise or just to play sport (40 minute commute door to door).

I should add my DC were at Scottish unis with large amounts of commuting students.

Most students study where they are comfortable which is usually their home (be that halls or parents)

No, not solely to revise but they would build it into their day - so labs, lectures, socialising, revising and sports would be lumped together as much as possible.
