Value of a master's degree (specifically in economics)

Hi,

From my previous posts here I assume you know my DS will be doing a Bachelor's in Economics. Just curious about what extra avenues (if any) a a master's degree open?

I've been thinking to myself when someone is applying for a graduate role does a master's help at all? Surely the pay is exactly the same regardless?

@eggsbenedict23 I would imagine it depends on the role. Is a masters expected? It’s a bit difficult to know as he’s not yet started his degree. He might get more of a steer when he meets other economics students to see what they are planning after undergrad. In the meantime maybe look at grad schemes? What do they ask for? I think they will train their grads as opposed to actually requiring a master from the start. I know employees to do a masters after they specialise too. Academics obviously would and if he wants a specialist role immediately. It’s a bit early to call all of that though!
