Degree Apprenticeships - Science?

Looking at this as an option for my DD but really struggling to find any suitable apprenticeships that are science-based, they all seem to be more business or engineering. I've looked at all the usual places, but are there any hidden gems i might be missing?

What kind of science? Most science degree apprenticeships go to those who work as tech then get funded off the employer. Could she live at home and commute to a local uni if moving out isn't an option. Could you pick up extra shift aswell towards the top up?

Checked that link and as I’ve found previously most are NHS or engineering/ tech/nuclear.

There are odd ones in other areas but not too many.

There’s also a medical degree apprenticeship in the pipeline.

As PPs have said degree apprenticeships are mainly in tech and engineering..

But DD will be able to support herself through uni if she works full time over the summer before she goes (should be able to bank 2k) and then works 2 shifts a week during academic year.
AND does one of the following-

-Goes to a local uni and lives at home

  • chooses a uni in city with cheaper rent costs (needs to carefully research this)

Loads of kids do this. And you may find you are able to help a little too.

It's worth keeping an eye on the NHS Jobs website, some hospitals advertise degree apprenticeship in Heathcare Sciences, eg medical physics.

Unilever is a good one. Then look at other big Pharma companies.

Id strongly recommend having a look at degree apprenticeships ..there are several being advertised by the NHS....

My daughter is just finishing her Biomed Degree and hopefully will continue with a Masters but i would not recommend this route...Its expensive and its difficult to get lab experience and you virtually have no choice but to do a Masters ...in addition my daughters course is not NHS accredited but accredited by the RBS ...which means she has to undertake further study if she wants to work in the NHS. She's your typical anti big Pharma idealistic student which probably means she will go down the NHS route although this was not her orginal plan....

So definitely look at NHS Apprenterships ...

This probably leads to the same options as other suggestions you've been given, but the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industries has an apprenticeships page with links to some sites with listings. If she wants a degree then only the level-6 apprenticeships are relevant.

Have you checked out RateMyApprenticeship? My sister used them to get her degree apprenticeship. They've got lots of science and pharma employers I believe and they have reviews / tables of the best companies. Worth a look?
