Change of mind re Offers/places

DD (year 13) applied to 5 universities on her UCAS form. She got offers from Uni A B C D and E. She accepted Uni A as a firm and Uni B as her insurance. Accommodation has been applied for at Uni A.

She's been struggling hugely with her mental health and is now under the mental health team, consultants etc.
She has now decided that it might be a better option to stay at home and go to our local Uni (which wasn't in her original 5 choices) as all her medical/health/medication stuff is here. I also feel she is very vulnerable right now and I do think being so far from us at Uni A could be detrimental to her. She is determined to go to Uni but with her recent decline, being so far from home is causing added issues.
So, we are both researching if it's even possible to change Uni choices once the firm and insurance have been accepted. We know she can defer Uni A once results are out but can she decline? How would she apply to Local Uni?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks

Yes she can still decline A (or B if confirmed instead) on results day. If local course is in Clearing she can ring and apply, even before relinquishing the place at A or B.

Thank you for your reply.

I guess there is nothing we can do right now as it's very late in the day.
If the local Uni doesn't have anything in clearing then she will have to have a year out (she's adamant she doesn't) and reapply.

There is no harm calling on the day to ask. Year out to get her mh under control might be time well spent.

my dd got into a similar situation. I think she can ask to be released from unis an and b and then apply to your local uni through ‘extra’ assuming that the course she wants is still available. The option to do this exists until some point in June. However it’s quite fraught - DD ended up going to her Uni A.

Check ucas extra to see if the course she wants is still available. If it is, she can reject a and b now and apply to home uni now via UCAS extra. It’s obviously slightly risky as she’ll briefly have to hold no offers, but plenty of students do it.
