Does anyone have any insight please as to first year accommodation at Nottingham and Newcastle unis please? DC wants catered on campus at Notts but can't decide on a hall. Newcastle is insurance and there doesn't seem to be any catered - which is fine - but, again, which halls are the most sociable?

There are no self catered actually on University campus. Broadgate Park is just down the road. It’s a difficult toss up between wanting to be in the centre of things or having the flexibility of self catering

DS is looking at Broadgate Park as he wants self catered.

My experience is a bit dated now, but I was put into Nightingale (when it was still all female) but ended up moving out to Broadgate park after about 6 weeks. They're only really across the road from campus so no real difference to being in Cavendish or Florence Boot or the other halls on the west side of campus.

Half my lectures were in QMC and we had 5pm lectures twice a week so ended up missing dinner. We did have ok kitchens for catering but the catered option was too expensive to pay for and then still have to feed yourself.

I was much closer for my lectures living off campus in my second year!
