This may be long.

DD has Autism, dyspraxia, dyslexia and various learning difficulties, school was awful for her and she faced a lot of bullying and she did really poorly.
She left and went to college and has done amazingly until now.
She retook her maths and English and passed.
She got Distinction star Distinction Star for Level 2 BTEC
She got all distinctions bar a merit in one exam for the first year of level 3.

For a variety of reasons this year however has been AWFUL.
When she has asked for help to help her understand work she has been told they could not 'spoon feed her' or to just re read it.
There have been a lot of missed sessions with either no work or a worksheet sent and if one teacher misses than in a lot of cases they all did not do the session in person that day so she feels she has missed a lot.
There were major issues affecting all students with one exam to the point other tutors from another campus had to come and sort things the day before the exam as they had all been given incorrect information.
In her second exam an incident had to be recorded due to their failure to adhere to her sen arrangements and her missing a chunk of her exam as a result.

She was precticted DdD based on last year, her offers are based on DMM.
She is going to be lucky to scrape MMM.

She has now given up completely, she has gone from distinctions to scraping passes in assignments and feels she is going to miss uni so does not see a point. She wants to quit here and now but only has a few months left so it seems a waste.

As she has no exams to go unless she resits in May which she is refusing to do we will know significantly in advance of results day that she is miles off attaining her grade.
If it is the case that she will miss the grades is it worth contacting the universities for advice before results day?

Hi,

I think it might be worth contacting the universities she has applied to. Depending on her offer (e.g. if they are unconditional or conditional offers) they might be able to be flexible. They may also be able to support with her entry due to her SEN and the scenarios you've described. There is also Clearing, which is usually entering university more last minute or if you haven't got the grades you were expected to get. I would speak to the universities (or someone at school) about the Clearing process and your options here. It may help her mood and motivation if she feels there is a plan B.

I'd be sitting down with the college principal to outline the issues she has had and agree a support plan that will help her get the grades she needs.
