i go to saint martins and I love it there - but LCF is very different so you can't really compare. St Martins prides itself on pushing boundaries and highly conceptual design whereas LCF is more business based on the whole. students on the BA fashion may argue this but based on what comes out of the BA shows you can tell the difference. St Martins does not put much emphasis on technical skills, and LCF probably do. so thats what you should make your decisions based on.. techincal ability or conceptual ideas

I did a short course there a few years ago in costume design and had a great time. (This was for fun though, not in aid of me moving into the theatre or anything) The teacher was faaabulous daaahling. And boy could he produce the most amazing designs. Anyway, its certainly a decent college, but I can't comment on degree type courses. I was always impressed with the work on display.

My friend is a lecturer at the College of Fashion.

She teaches make up and styling. My friend is an amazing academic with an artistic flair so it suits her perfectly.

There are very different courses which are very well known within the industry not much in the mainstream.

LCF is part of the London Institute - all part of the Central St Martins/Camberwell/Chelsea lot , so not crapola really

It's well thought of within the fashion industyr. St Martin's is the top one.

MrsMattie · 04/08/2008 16:28

No its not crapola.at all. It's a highly regarded fashion college. University of the Arts London is the new (stupid!) name for the old London Institute which comprises of a few excellent universities/colleges for the creative industries - Central St Martins, think Camberwell Art College too (?) + London College of Printing (fantastic industry recognised journalistic training).
