Minimum income for independent student

Does anyone know if there is a inimical level of income that SFE expect to be an independent student? I've found reference about 10 years ago on The Student Room which says £7500, but presumably it's gone up since then. SFE just makes reference to "a reasonable level of income".

DC's friend has worked full time for 4 years and lived independently for two, although on a very small income, and sometimes just benefits, in a studio flat. They now want to go to University, but I wasn't sure if they might fall foul of a minimum income criteria if it's increased substantially?

Thanks

Standalone.org.uk says the following

”The income threshold for self-support is assessed on a case-by-case basis but you are still advised to apply if you earn a small income but are genuinely completely financially independent. You can send in further clarifying documents to show your circumstances. For example, your income may be low because you have been working in a job that provides you with accommodation, you may have particularly low rent or you may have been claiming benefits that give you a lower income.”

periods on benefits count towards financially supporting yourself.
