Grades accepted through clearing

Hi
My dd is in year 13 and is looking to study primary education. She’s not a grade A student so I’m thinking ahead and wondered if there’s anywhere we can find out what grades universities accepted for entry to the degree through clearing? We know that the course she wants was available via clearing for 2022 intake, but understand that doesn’t mean it will be for 2023.

Thanks

Discover uni and What uni will tell you what the common A levels and grades achieved by students on the course. That plus the stated minimum grades required should give you an indication. Not sure why you want to wait for clearing? There's no guarantee any given course will be offered. I wouldn't have thought A grades were required - the first university course that came up on a quick search had BBC to BCC.

Thanks for your reply. Not planning to wait for clearing, I was just curious to see what grades had been accepted, just in case dd doesn’t meet what’s listed.

She’ll be applying in the usual way.

discoveruni.gov.uk/course-finder/results/

If you follow the website above and put in the Universities and courses your DD is interested in, you will get an idea of how likely it is that courses will offer much lower grades than advertised in clearing. Also student satisfaction etc.

You could also try googling courses she is interested in alongside clearing grades and see if anything comes up. The student room website often has information.

For the university she is interested in which was in clearing last year, it might be worth emailing them and asking the question. I did for DS last year and they were happy to let me know what was likely to happen.

Good luck.

My Dd is similar and wants to go into primary teaching.

She’s decided to do a BA hons in a subject she’s interested in and then will do a PGCE afterwards.

Just to say my dd is doing primary Ed. Apparently BCU was giving unconditional offers last year! Obviously that meant nothing in clearing. Interesting tho

I’m not a Primary Ed student but I do Education Studies at Goldsmiths University. Entry requirements are BBC. The course doesn’t qualify you to be a teacher, but anyone who passes automatically gets an interview for the Goldsmiths PGCE.

It’s a fantastic course and I’d recommend it highly, but she may be dead set on Primary Ed or not fancy London etc. :)
