Student finance - my boyfriend's income

I'm sure this should be obvious but it's not that clear on the finance website. Just wondered if anyone here has been in the same situation.

Ds is starting uni this year. I'm a widow and based on my income ds gets the full maintenance loan for this year.

Later this year I'll be moving in with dp. Presumably my household income for next year's assessment will need to include dp's income? We're not going to marry and will keep separate finances.

If you’re under 25 and financially depend on at least one parent
Your household income includes:
• your parents’ income, if you live with them or depend on them financially
• the combined income of one of your parents and their partner, if you live with them or depend on them financially

Yes his income will be part of the assessment

it wont impact the loan amount immediately. 2022/23 loan is based on 2020/21 tax year. So loan for 23/24 will be based on 21/22 tax year and 24/25 will be based on 22/23 tax year. So it would be best if you didnt move in together until after 5 April 2023 if its a 3 year course as then his income wont count at all. lso be aware many unis offer bursaries to those on full loans so you may lose out on that money too if you do move in together this tax year.

Actually that may be wrong advice - you probably do have to declare the second person - but i dont know if they take their previous earnings before you lived together into account. I am a lone parent whose income has gone up but it wont affect the loan for another 2 years.
