Anyone with a dc at Sheffield Uni this year or in the past

Is there anyone with a dc who got Sheffield as their insurance or through clearing?

Ds does not seem to have had anything yet about setting up an account so that he can book accommodation. They only guarantee accommodation for first years if you apply by 31st August and he is going away on Wednesday with possibly limited internet access.

Has anyone gone through this before & remembers how long it took?

Thanks!

Dd was in endcliffe and loved it. There will be a Facebook group or two where he can start to get to know people. It took a while to get going as most of them don't usually use Facebook but it comes in handy.

@MrsSteveHarrington my daughter was in Ranmoor last year - by choice as she’s not a huge party girl, however it was definitely pretty lively!! Plenty of parties and so on.
It is so close to Endcliffe too. She socialised with people living in both. Don’t worry - it will be fine and potentially chance to swap too if need be. They are in different locations but close enough that being in one or the other shouldn’t impact much 😊

Ah thanks @LaFlottes . I think he’s feeling a bit better about it now. He fell in love with Endcliffe village when he went. I’m sure he pictured himself with a view of the water and trees in a large party flat! It will be ok. Just wish his flatmates had written something about themselves. He’s reading a lot into that !

Honestly - once he’s there he will be fine and will realise that they are so close the only difference is potentially a five minute walk back to Ranmoor!!
Ranmoor is lovely too with lots of green space etc. They soon figure out which are the party flats too!
That is a shame that the others have not written a little bio but maybe they just didn’t think it was important. Then once the first person hadn’t, the second person didn’t bother either and so on!!
It’s almost like some of them wanting to find their flatmates in WhatsApp groups and others preferring to wait until they get there!
I honestly think he’d be able to swap rooms if he really wanted to anyway.
It’s a great city and Uni - exciting times! 😊
