DD has just received her A Level grades. She received a B in one subject but the points showing on the paper are 0. Can anyone explain why this is? Bit confused as the other 2 grades show points of 30 and 40.

Call the school?

MermaidEyes · 19/08/2022 13:08

I've considered that although the results papers are printed by the exam board

Bunnyannesummers · 19/08/2022 13:12

The 30 was a C mark

I have absolutely no idea! What are raw marks? DD is clueless too!

Raw marks are the scores she achieved on each paper. These are weighted in the calculation of the overall grade as not all papers may carry equal weight.

MermaidEyes · 19/08/2022 16:32

Ah they may be raw marks then. I'm still a bit confused as to why one is 0, unless they don't put the mark for every subject.

Was it a paper she took, some have alternatives.

MermaidEyes · 19/08/2022 16:40

lizs it was Sociology, she did 3 papers

I am vaguely wondering whether it is the point on the scale, rather than actual 'points'? Iirc, an A shows as 50, A* as 60. So possibly 'six - zero', rather than sn actual 'sixty' anything, iyswim? No idea about the '0' one, though.

A quick trawl on the subject on TSR produced several similar questions, but no definitive answers and at least on the Pearson (Edexcel) site, the 'explanation of your resultts' section doesn't mention it.

After doing a bit more googling I'm now thinking it's an internal school thing!

Actually, I think it may be something to do with the 'average points score used on the DfE site where you can compare schools?
