A/L Results dat 18 August-not going to be around

It turns out that we have to travel overseas for an emergency and won't be around on results day.

Is there a way to access the results online? As far as I understand the UCAS portal will only say if an offer has been met or not. It won't give you the actual results.

We can nominate someone to collect results from school but this has its own risks- what if they go late, etc.

DS is pretty sure he will get the grades required but life experience makes me worry.

Can one get results online?

Any advise?

My son is receiving his results by email, which is good as he flies on holiday with his dad that day. Can you check with school? Ours are definitely email only for A levels but in school for GCSE ones

Jules912 · 26/07/2022 13:14

Ask the school. Back in my day they posted them for anyone who didn't collect in person, now I imagine they could email.

When DD got her results 4 yrs ago the UCAS website confirmed her uni place at about 8am, although it didn't say the A level grades.

Scoobyblue · 26/07/2022 13:43

My dd got her results by email from school. It’s up to the individual school how you get the results so you need to contact them.

stilldumdedumming · 26/07/2022 13:49

We are getting ours via school email
And the app. Dd is away. I did t realise that UCAS will confirm offer met - that's handy as a back up. Thanks

For my son two years ago the UCAS portal crashed and was only available after results were.

DelphiniumBlue · 26/07/2022 14:42

I think somone else can pick up the results on his behalf, you'll need a signed letter authorising this, plus possibly ID?
I'd contact the school.

LIZS · 26/07/2022 14:44

School may email them or ask you to call late morning, if you request. Not ideal in case you need their support to negotiate with unis but sounds difficult.

LIZS · 26/07/2022 14:46

UCAS tracker updates around 8am and notifies if either uni has confirmed the place. Sometimes borderline results cause a delay though.

Harumff · 26/07/2022 17:52

I work in a school, they all do it a bit differently but for us it’s:

  • collect results in person at 8am

  • UCAS updates at 8.15 just to say if your offer is confirmed or not

  • somebody else can collect in person if you let us know in writing it is happening and they bring ID

  • those that want them by email can have them if they ask in advance but they won’t be sent out til about 10am when the masses have been dealt with.

TeenDivided · 26/07/2022 18:29

Does your DS have to go to the emergency? (Funeral is the only thing I can think of that would be an emergency but also known about 3 weeks in advance.) If there is any way he could be at home it would give peace of mind should he not get the grades.

Holidaydreamingagain · 26/07/2022 18:33

All gcse and a level results are available from 8.30 on the school portal. Does your school do this?

Darbs76 · 30/07/2022 09:33

It’s the school you need to ask, ours said to email if they want to access online otherwise collect

hedgehoglurker · 30/07/2022 09:35

Ours will be on the portal too.

Summerholidays204949393 · 30/07/2022 09:36

Ours were on the school portal too…. He got them in person also, but they also went onto the portal

MrsEricBana · 30/07/2022 19:32

Sorry to state the obvious but the issue on results day isn't getting the grades (which you will be able to sort with school) it's, if the grades are missed, talking to staff, ringing the uni, going through clearing etc. Can this be done from where you'll be?
