Being asked to provide payslips as Guarantor is this usual ?

just wanted some experienced feedback if that was usual to be asked to provide payslips as Guarantor is this usual ?

@Revengeofthepangolins that's exactly the problem we discovered, we are not homeowners ( mainly due to me being shafted by my ex-h and never getting back on the property ladder) surely the income we have is more relevant?

London rental - and yes had to provide payslips. probably didn't help as we were naive and told the estate agent up front that DP was semi-retired. The fact he work 36 hours over 3.5 days didn't help until they saw his payslips

It's common, I had to provide proof of funds (rather than payslip) for dd

We didn't need to be homeowners, it was purely income related.

It seems to differ from agent to agent.

Unfortunately, the agent my teen went with wanted both home ownership AND a high income in one person. Between four adults in my teen's life, who are all completely solvent, we couldn't manage one guarantor due to pensions being completely discounted and overseas income being discounted.

So we had to pay four months rent in advance instead 😩

Agents do NOT seem to cater for anything even slightly out of the box.
