Will unis take covid into account on offer day?

Anyone around who knows about university admissions?

I've currently got covid and dd1 today has developed a high temperature, sore throat and a headache. Testing negative at the moment, but I'd be very surprised if she's not positive by the end of the day. This was what happened to me.

She has sat 6 A level exams and has 6 more to go. She is doing 4 A levels. If she has to isolate for 3 days, she will miss one exam. That's fine. However, she may then have to sit a papers while feeling pretty rubbish and will have missed 3 days of last minute revision. (I'm 3 days ahead of her and wouldn't fancy sitting life changing exams in my current state. I absolutely would not have been able to revise. )

She has been predicted 3As and an A. Realistically, I think she was on track for 3As and a B. I think if she gets covid now, there is a very real possibility that she will miss a grade in a key subject which will mean she misses her uni offer. Her first choice offer is A*AB.

Do you think the uni might take pity on her given covid?

If she's unwell on the day of the exam her school can complete relevant forms.

Hopefully she will have a restful weekend, lots of sleep and healthy food, and feel fine by Monday. I wouldn't keep testing her, let her focus on getting well.

No. The school/exam board is where such things are taken into account.

You can’t double dip on mitigation. If your add succumbs to the plague, then presumably her school will submit information in mitigation. That is the adjustment. Universities can’t then mitigate again.

If she sits at least 25% in each subject she will be awarded a grade based on the exams she has done, the school will need to support an application for special consideration (ie justified absence) and you may need supporting documentation (take a photo of positive test if/when she gets one). My daughter is going through something similar and it is beyond stressful, seeing their work slip through their fingers, but there is a system in place. I’d speak to school as soon as you get a positive test or DD feels too unwell to sit exams. Good luck.

Special rules this year do she doesn’t need to fit every paper. My advice is not to sit a paper if feeling I’ll as if completed it’s marked as normal and nsy just get an extra maximum 3% whereas if not say it just goes on the papers she did when she was well.
