Student finance husband's income

Our DD is soon to finish her first year at uni, and we are applying for her second year's finance. My husband and I are both self-employed and our income is the same as run a small business and split the profits 50/50. I can't remember how we filled out the form last year, but I seem to recall that both of us filled it out together and it all went through fine. This year, I filled out the form, giving my details, but there was nowhere to add my husband's information. Now it says that my DD's application has been submitted successfully and is complete, but they only have half our income. We rang up twice to ask what to do, and both times we got an uninterested and bored person who didn't really seem sure of the advice they were giving. One didn't know, and the other said my husband needs to download a form, fill it in and send it to them? Is this correct? I'm sure we didn't do this last year. Is it the norm for one parent to fill in online, and the other to submit information later and separately? Just want to get it right. thanks.

I'm sure it just asks for total or combined house hold income. Unless due to the fact you have your own business it's different

Thank you 123rd. That's what I thought. I filled out the form this time and it said that if I had a partner, they would be emailed separately, but he's never had anything from them. Also, when I neared the end of the form, I went back three times to check that there was indeed nowhere for him to add his, but it was only for me. Weird. Alas I think we will need to ring them again.

We only have one income, but we each had to complete a separate form. That's for England. It may be different in other parts of the UK.

Thank you DahliaMacNamara. It looks like that is what we will have to do. Now to find out what form we need ...

Definitely filled in a form each for DS - and that's with only one income.

Your DD needed to give both sets of contact details, I think - presumably you each have your own tax code etc. Did she do this, or just give SFE yours?

We had sent our account information for both my dh and myself, then yesterday my dd said that we were still missing evidence.

I rang student finance and they said both dh and myself needed to complete a PR2 form each online which they sent to my dd who forwarded it on to us along with evidence of our income which we had done but not the PR2 form.

like you our income is split 50/50 due to business and we definitely didn’t complete a PR2 for our dd’s first year at university she too is going into her 2nd year.

After we summited the form and evidence my dh got an email straight away to say they had received his but I didn’t when I summited mine so I rang student finance again and they said they had the information and everything was complete.

Though we did notice that the government website for student finance did say prior to us sending the PR2 that our part is complete but then it turned out it wasn’t as we needed to do the PR2, so fingers crossed.

Your daughter should have given both your details and you should each have filled in a form with the info from your self assessment forms.
is your business a partnership or limited company. If the firmer you each have drawings, if the latter salary & dividends.

Thanks for the information, my dd did give both our details but we never got or even knew about the PR2 forms existence, it was only when I contacted Student finance that they said both of us needed to complete this form, our online account for Student finance never said that we were missing any information or evidence it just said it was all completed which was obviously not the case, strange but hopefully it is now.
