Dissertation Advice

hi,

I'm looking for some advice. My university dissertation is due tomorrow and i am not yet finished, if this was last year I would hit a can of redbull and stay up all night and bash it out but my circumstances are different now (I'm having a baby).

I know I've had a long while to do this, but I've had various difficulties in my life along with the life change of carrying a baby.

Should I submit my work way below the word count? Any advice and/or personal experience would be greatest appreciated.

I would speak your supervisor ASAP and see if you can an extension ( extenuating circumstances) given your current situation.

However, you yourself say that you have had plenty of time and you should have asked for help earlier which you probably wish you had now.

Definitely ask and don't do yourself a disservice by handing in something which you know won't reflect your hard work.

Good Luck x

Too much below word count will count against you. We tend to penalise anything more than 10% below and stop reading at 10% above the word limit.

You should talk to your supervisor or the module convenor about an extension. But sometimes just getting the thing done & submitted is also a good thing - get it off your desk, and get it in.

I'm assuming it's an undergraduate dissertation? If it's a Masters, then you do need to talk to your supervisor.
