DD (L6) interested in applying for a Humanities subject to LSE/Kings/UCL. She is attracted to London for the subject choice, reputation, possible exchange programmes & buzz. It’s at an early stage and she will go to Open Days etc but it’s hard to distinguish between them and to know what the student experience at each will actually be like. She is academically very strong and extremely sociable. Any insights would be appreciated.

If someone is looking for an economics degree, they have to understand that economics is all about the management of scarce resources.

Universities such as LSE and Bristol are more focused on econometrics, which is highly mathematical and statistical and theoretical.

Although econometrics will be a couple of obligatory modules in any degree course, there are also more human aspects to economics that are just as important.

It's important to understand this before launching into any particular university and to do your own research.

The LSE has a very good range of third year options but you have to negotiate some tough compulsory first and second year maths courses fitst.

Bristol offers a stand alone econometrics degree. I don't think their economics degree is notably mathematical. Others though are less.
