Personal statement when applying for different courses

If, for example, a student wanted to apply for Politics and a MFL (or IR and an MFL) at 4 unis and HSPS (because the others aren't available) at Cambridge, how would their PS be managed?
Do most unis look at the PS (so if the language was only mentioned in passing it would be a problem)? I know C look at the PS so presumably focusing on the language would be a potential problem?
Interested if anyone has any experience or insider information?

Cambridge has a supplementary application questionnaire with a section for an extra mini personal statement; this is exactly what it's for.

DS applied for four physics courses, so his UCAS personal statement was very focused on physics. He also applied for physical natural sciences at Cambridge, and use the mini personal statement section of their SAQ to talk about his interest in interdisciplinary physical sciences (I think he talked about Fourier transforms in X-ray diffraction crystallography).

Some of the courses at Cambridge are unique in their structure (e.g. Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic), and so admissions teams at Cambridge colleges will understand that applicants will be applying to a range of courses at other universities.

I think all students at Cambridge have access to the language centre to pursue their language learning alongside their degree studies. I don't know whether it would help to mention that they would be interested in utilising that?
