DD has decided she wants to switch and do nursing! We think she'll need to apply again through UCAS. Just wondering how competitive it is to get in?

Very competitive and numbers are capped ( due to availability of placements) ...she'll need to attend interview- does she have any experience as a HCA which would help her application

I've been a nurse for almost 13 years but when I went to university it was a full day of interviews and tests. Had an English test where I had to write about someone who inspired me, maths test, group interview and individual interview. I had no experience in care but had done an NC in pre-nursing at college and had started my HNC. Jobs were few and far between when I applied so it was difficult to get in however with the way things are now I don't know if it'll be as strict. I know students I've had recently have said their interview stage wasn't anything like what we done.

Which country are you in? Some are extremely competitive due to funding, course fees etc.
Has she a biology Alevel? Has she worked in a nursing home?

She has plenty of NHS experience and more lined up where I work. She understands she'll have to interview. Just wondering how many don't get a place, she has her heart set on it

Nurse academic here - adult nursing is not as competitive as you'd think but places fill up quickly at the moment. It's a bit like waiting for a bus - you just have to wait until the next one comes along with spaces. Most courses have entry points at least twice a year.

Big push for nurses at the moment so threshold for admission isn't particularly high
