Interview clothes

So I am looking for a new job, and since I didn't have any interview clothes, went out and bought some smart black cigarette leg, heavy ish wool blend trousers from Reiss, some black leather brogues, and a navy blue silky shirt from m and s. I think it looks good together. Question is, do I need a black blazer ( expensive?). I was planning on wearing a navy/ black wool blend double breasted Barbour coat as it's autumn and a blazer would not keep me warm if I need to walk any distance. The jobs in going for are all admin/ coordinator/ project management type roles in a large university, so it's not massively corporate, but obviously professional. I want to look smart but also show some personality i.e not look like I'm dressed as a waitress ( I have worked as a waitress before and that is not the look I'm going for). So do you think it sounds okay, and would it be better to suck it up and buy the matching blazer?

I think your outfit with the Barbour coat sounds absolutely fine. Good luck with the interview Smile

Sounds fine to me. I think workplaces have become much more casual in recent years and especially since COVID.

It was once recommended to me that I wear something that would mean I was remembered amongst a sea of other applicants.
I had a fuchsia suit once for that reason.

Thank you. Having tried on the Barbour coat I think it looks a bit too big, so I've bought a Boden Smyth blazer in black in the hope it might be quite versatile. I was tempted to get something from eBay but it seemed a bit risky. I like the idea of a fuschia pink suit :) I bought a very colourful twilly scarf a while ago, thought I could wear it round my neck, again, colour and being remembered. In practice I'm not so sure as it is very bold and multi-coloured. Although I like it it's not really conventional at the moment either.
