Hi, just need to chat really, DD3 is due to move away to start her first year in a couple of weeks.
Bit of back ground info, she’s been very very ill and has had to learn how to do everything again.
She’s spent the last 3 years catching up with her studies as she was unable to do her GCSE’s at the time and has this year finally got the grades via an access course that she needed.
I’m very proud of how she’s coped, as the illness has left her with a fair few problems etc

I’ve always supported her in her dream to go to uni but now it’s getting closer I’m worried as to how she’ll cope, with daily living as well as her studies, socialising (she’s not very street wise due to the nature and recovery of her illness) etc
We have a phone meeting in the next few days to try to sort out what support she’ll have/need etc, but I’m still worried for her, has anyone’s DC’s been to uni who have been in a similar position? How did they manage? How did you manage?
Many thanks x

Hi there - I can't offer any practical advice, I'm afraid, but wanted to bump your post and say that I sympathise. Hope you are getting on alright with the transition at the moment. Will she be moving very far away?

My DS has struggled with anxiety, panic attacks around exams, dropping out of Y12, restarting, covid disruption and doing resits. He's currently on his second gap year but will be finally going to uni in a year's time at the age of 20. We have, I suppose, got the luxury of a year out now where my DS can work on himself a bit more. Hope things are going OK for you and her. It will probably go better than you think - she must have learned a lot of resilience over the last few years.
