www.bstubbs.co.uk/a-lev.htm

Makes interesting reading when grades are compared to 2019 when the last A levels were taken.

What should the government do to sort this out for the class of 2022?

It’s a well known website for getting national exam statistics from, I don’t think they are real results but examples of analyses.

Ah ok, thanks

Omg. No wonder the unis don’t have enough accom for first years. This government…

@SeasonFinale
I have heard anecdotally that some grade entry requirements for some courses at some unis for 2022 entry have gone up but haven't delved further yet whether this is the case.

Edinburgh uni computer science standard A-level entry requirements:
2021 AAA
2022 3xA star!

Bratnews · 14/09/2021 12:41

Just looked at Edinburgh Computing Science for Scottish students it’s gone from AAAA to AAAAA!

DoctorDonna20 · 14/09/2021 12:59

@Bratnews yep, higher requirements now than medicine, vet science or any other UK compsci degree including oxbridge.

I can only comment on History but there is always going to be a problem with a teacher marking such a subjective subject as the vast majority of their pupils will use the teacher's preferred arguments. In a normal year the examiner might be less aligned to the student's thinking.

Conversely this can be a problem in a normal year as historians often disagree. On one of BF's finals papers her first marker gave her a high 2:1 borderline first and the second a low 2:2 borderline 3rd.

Bratnews · 14/09/2021 13:09

@DoctorDonna20 that's completely crazy. I know so many Scottish students who didn't get their preferred unis this year without this increase. It just gets harder for them every year, esp. with the cap in place.

I know it's been a tough year for English students as well.

I know a few candidates that got above published required grades and didn't get places as so many applied with good grades, and the amount coming that had deferred last year. Pretty depressing when you achieve A star A star A and don't get on a course with A A B requirement. And they did take actual exams at GCSE which back up their high grades at A level.

@londonmummy1966 my DS did Pre U History and his grade was awarded by the exam board.

But I suppose still marked by teachers at school

That was one of my concerns too about the essay subjects
