Anyone's DC successfully applied for a visa for a stage (internship) in France?

DS is trying to navigate the process for applying for a visa for his stage (internship) in France (as partof third year of MFL degree). If anyone's DC has already successfully done this (post-Brexit!) or is in the process of doing so, would appreciate exchanging notes!

I'd be interested to hear from others too.
DD not going to France but Spain.
Makes me so sad (& cross!) that they have so much more paper work post Brexit.
I'm a bit confused about having to provide proof of health insurance when we're not planning to sort that until closer to her departure.
Also, don't know if this applies to France , having to provide proof of income when she's reliant largely on her student loan which will not hit her account for weeks after her arrival.
All very confusing isn't it!!

DD is in the middle of messaging yet another potential houseshare in Aix-en-Provence as I write...

One of the things that the website says is needed for a visa application for France is "Proofs of accommodation during your internship". Does anyone know what is acceptable as proof of accommodation? The company that arranged DS's work placement (in Paris) has apparently said that students often go out and stay in Airbnb accommodation at first while looking for something more permanent. But I don't know how this squares with needing to show proof of accommodation during the internship. Will the visa authorities require you to show (say) a tenancy agreement covering the whole duration of the internship? Or is proof of short-term accommodation enough? Does anyone know?

My DC also trying to get a visa for Spain. Have you got an appointment at the Consulate yet @drivinmecrazy? The paperwork has taken ages and now all that's in place, it's trying to get a visa appointment which seems to be going in slow motion. It makes me so sad that we voted to do this to our young people...

Rodgerbera my DD doesn't have a sense of urgency for anything, she started the paperwork weeks ago along with her Erasmus paperwaork but it all gets 'too much for her'.
If I dare ask how it's going I'm told not to pressure her.
Can I ask have you already got health insurance as per the visa? My mum is in Spain so we're using her health care provider Sanitas but don't want to start paying for that until September.

Hopeful bump.

@drivinmecrazy for the insurance, my DC is using the Year Abroad insurance through the University - it doesn't start until Sept but has a letter from the University confirming this will be in place. It's the appointment at the Consulate which is worrying me... Has your DD got an appointment date?

drivinmecrazy · 20/07/2021 07:24

redgerbera hasn't got that far yet!
I had a very stressed call from her yesterday trying to finish the application. She was hung up on funding options, didn't know if proof of student loan would be accepted. We're probably going to have to sponsor her so I've been trying to find out what proof we need to provide for that.
As for accommodation she's still adamant that she'll get an air B&B in the short term as that's what her friend did last year and no amount of me telling her that it was different , that she has to arrange it before hand due to visa requirements has made a difference.
For an intelligent woman she can act just plain dumb sometimes Smile
Unfortunately her Erasmus coordinator is less than useless, DD had to point out to her the other day that she'd sent them all the wrong information!!
I'm in Spain for a month so little I can do but I just knew she would be ringing me in blind panic at sometime, just hadn't expected it four days after I left the country.
I've done a lot of research previously regarding student visa applications so that when she was ready to ask for help I could do so, but unfortunately there's very little info online and most of what there is is pre Brexit.
I guess it's all part of the experience!!
