Can’t bring text book home because of Covid?

Is this a thing?

English novel. They usually all get given the text to keep for the duration, not swapped with other classes.
What’s the difference between this and taking their exercise books home?

I’m a bit doubtful, ds been given 2 homework’s that specifically relate to the text.

Confusing

That's bonkers. Libraries are open again now, aren't they? I can't see the difference ...

Not sure of the logic behind this. Although libraries in England are open they are not yet in Scotland and in any event as far as I know all libraries are quarantining stock for 3 days on return.

I'm aware that some schools in Scotland have not allowed pupils to take books/paper home or bring in books/paper from home to reduce infection risks but there is increasing evidence to show that the risk of infection from surfaces is so low as to be almost nil. The CDC recently issued new guidance on this - which you should be able to find if you google.

I’m a bit suspicious that my son isn’t telling the truth here, so was trying to find out it it was feasible

If it's just a novel, can't you just buy your own?

Condenast · 13/04/2021 15:27

I downloaded it for the first homework as that was last minute
I’ve ordered a copy now, but the chapter/pages don’t line up, so it’s obviously not the same copy they’re using

My DD is bringing printed out work sheets so I can’t see the difference if he’s keeping it for a while.

If the homework seems to need access to the book then seems odd. Possible that kids frequently forget to bring in books. Normally they could share or be given a copy

readsalotgirl63 · 13/04/2021 18:52

I'd say it is feasible although rather more surprising at this point. I'm aware that schools were being ultra cautious earlier in the pandemic - knew of schools who had closed their school libraries and were not allowing paper based materials to either be taken home or brought in.

I'm in libraries and we are still quarantining returned items and cleaning.

RaspberryCoulis · 13/04/2021 18:55

We had this with our child's school. Anything coming into school from home like homework had to be quarantined for 72 hours before it was marked. Then quarantined for another 72 hours before the teacher could hand it back.

Batshit bonkers.
