Mature student in need of help!

Hi everyone,

Just looking for some words of wisdom.

I decided to change careers a few years ago and did Open university whilst on maternity leave. First 2 years went really well. Good marks between 2:1 and 1st.

I then made the (idiotic) decision to change institutions in September for my final year and I'm hating it.

Teaching is virtually non-existent, lecturer is a dick (filming himself programming and uploading it to Teams and then making smart comments when others in the class ask for help because nothing has been explained) and I'm really struggling with the work. My marks have also been poor so far and when I said I was disappointed and wanted to find out how I could improve, lecturer said that, "everyone's marks are shit at the beginning of the third year."

I'm thinking about quitting but feel that even though I'm probably going to come out with a poor degree that I may regret it. If I quit, I'll try and go back to the OU in September. I just don't know whether I'm throwing it away unnecessarily.

Anyone have any advice or been through similar, I'd be really grateful for any advice.

I did my degree through OU and then masters at a red brick and it made me respect OU so much more. The support was so much better from not only tutors but other students on facebook and whatsapp groups. If it wont affect you financially too badly I would rather drop out and go back to OU next year rather than risk getting a 3rd where you are now.
