If you appealed an A-level CAG did you succeed?

We've had an appeal accepted by Edexel, but I've heard anecdotally that AQA are more intransigent - still waiting on that one.

What has been your experience?

I am still trying to decide whether to appeal so I am interested to hear about others.

Can I ask on what grounds you appealed OP - protected characteristics or other? I don't wish to pry!

Gah, it's hard to explain properly without identifying self/child @sendburde77. Really sorry! It's a combination of factors though and doesn't fall neatly under discrimination, bias, or administrative error, which I had thought were the only grounds on which an appeal would be allowed. In that sense I would definitely recommend going for it - or at least, trying to persuade the school to go for it. You never know.

As an aside, the really bollocks part of the whole thing is that it's really not in the school's interest to appeal.

You've missed the appeal deadline by about two weeks so I guess the decision is made.

Ah.

titchy, there is no deadline for appeals of malpractice. I wish I had missed the deadline - it would make like a lot simpler!

VitreousHumour, thanks. I understand about not wanting to be identifiable. Your comment about it not being in the schools interest to appeal is what is stopping me. I have two other DC there and I don't want to create a bad relationship if it's unlikely to result in a grade change.

Has anyone heard back from appeals? The criteria for schools to make appeals was quite stringent so I'm wondering what the success rate has been like

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 23/10/2020 12:56

We did for gcse and were successful. The letter that came out said the school would be charged £35 appeal fee because they made the mistake so I think this is a huge factor in schools trying to avoid appealing.

which board was that with Justherewithmypopcorn? I'm asking as there seems there could be differences between boards eg between Edexcel and AQA

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 28/10/2020 10:36

AQA

thanks
