Access to HE course

Hello all

I just wondered if anyone has any experience of completing an Access to HE course? I am looking at completing an access to higher education course (science) with the view of applying to university to study a Bsc (Hons) Dietetics degree as a mature student. I already have A levels in Art and English Language and a BA (Hons) design degree, however the universities I am applying to have specified a science based access course as a prerequisite (since my degree and A levels are in the creative arts.)

I have found a number of local colleges which offer the course; predominantly on a full time bases. In addition I have come across the same course on 'Learn Direct' and 'Distance Learning.' The online options offer a little but more flexibility however I can't help but feel a bit skeptical about an online qualification because it is completely new territory for me...

Does anyone have any experience of completing an online or college access to HE course? If so I would be grateful to hear your experience

Thanks so much

Bumping for you op.
I don't have experience of an access course but did redirect my career from arts to psychology. I can highly recommend OU courses if they offer an online option

I would recommend a college course rather than an on-line one to be honest.
I have worked in FE and we often had students who had started an on-line course transferring to us as it wasn't working out for them.
If on-line is the only option would go for the OU route.

Very similar situation for me too. Humanities background, but now need some science. Luckily, the local fe college does science access part time. It’s 1 day a week over 2 years. Is there anything like this anywhere in travelling distance to you?

I did Access Science 3 years ago (aged 31), at college and am now a 2nd year in Microbiology (I moved Unis and started from scratch last year as I wasn't enjoying the Biology course I was on).

I recommend college. I'm not sure if the curriculum is the same everywhere, but we did 70% of the Biology and Chemistry A Levels and one Physics A Level modules. I would not have been able to do it without F2F teaching.

Also, my course was listed as full time but actually it was 2.5 days a week over 9 months.
