My dc is heading to Liverpool in September. It was his insurance and he has never visited it so all brand new! He is really happy to have a place given all the turmoil of results day! Anyone else have a dc going there, or have any experience of the university itself? Thanks :)

My daughter is about to go into her second year at Liverpool and she really loves it.

Been to Liverpool with both mine and I loved it. Fantastic city, beautiful friendly Uni and amazing facilities. He's going to love it. Mine only didn't go as it is a v long way away.

DD about to return for her 2nd year and can’t wait. Great city, good uni facilities and very responsive pastoral care. Going to be a bit different socially and her course is going to be blended learning cos of covid but she’s still v keen to get back. Does your son have accommodation sorted - we had to use private halls but were v good so happy to answer questions if he’s stuck?

Thankfully halls all sorted. I will be dropping him there with all his stuff. Neither of us have ever been to Liverpool before. He didn’t go to an open day as it was his insurance choice so he didn’t really give it much thought until he was offered it! He was disappointed not to get his first choice at first but is now really happy the way it all turned out :)

My daughter is going into her final year. She has been really happy there. And great to visit too - we go for the occasional weekend. Expensive accommodation for first year but more reasonable moving out. It's been a good choice for her.

hellsbells99 · 24/08/2020 01:32

DD spent 3 fabulous years there. She says it’s the friendliest place she knows of. Currently working in another city but plans to move back if possible in a couple of years time.

My dd is starting the University of liverpool in September. It was her 1st choice uni so she is very pleased she is going. Its a beautiful city, with something for everybody.
She got offered the Universities Green bank accommodation but this is the one accommodation which is quite far out, which is not what she wanted. She has now booked private halls, which we have been to see, its mainly 1st years and just up the road from the university and a lot cheaper so win win x

I went there, way back in the distant past. Had a blast. Its a fun city. Has its problem areas but lots of recent new developments.

I love Liverpool! Great city.

My daughter just got accepted yesterday. Liverpool was her first choice as she loved the open day. She now has to sort accommodation and isn’t keen on Greenbank. Can anyone recommend any private halls that have lots of first year Uni of Liverpool residents. Preferably a short walk from campus.

Bati · 28/08/2020 16:02

@Ccrc28 my dd was offered Green bank which she wasnt keen on. So we started looking at private halls and was very surprised just how many there are and how close they are to the university. Some are next door/opposite the uni's accomodation.
In the end she went with one of Unites accommodations after visiting it, called Grand central. Its mainly 1st years, short walk to the uni. She has ensuite room in a flat of 5. Kitchen has living area with settee and breakfast bar. It has big area for socialising with pool tables etc and its own gym.

Its also a lot cheaper than green bank x

@Bati Thank you, that’s really helpful. She was due to be in a Unite hall at her insurance and they’ve been really helpful with us having to cancel. She walks everywhere so would like to be in walking distance of uni. We’ll have a look.

@ccrc28
We spoke to unite on the phone and found them very helpful.
