Student maintenance & universal credit

I’m filling in the support form for my dd uni finance application. I need to complete my & dh income, there is nowhere to add universal credit income, also he receives carers money within that.
There is a box for esa and carers allowance but I think universal credit is separate but there is no option.

I don’t think universal credit is counted. I used to get child and working tax credits and they aren’t taxable income. So you don’t need to include it. Good luck!

Ring the helpline. They have always been really good when I have had queries.

Join one of the Universal Credit pages on Facebook- unfortunately from.what I have seen it would appear student maintence loans etc are deducted £ for £ from your entitlement

But this is a parent completing the household income forms to support their DD’s application. The DD herself doesn’t get UC.

OP, they want to know your household taxable income, so wages, interest from savings, pensions etc. Some benefits are taxable, ESA and Carer’s allowance etc. UC isn’t taxable. You don’t need to include it.

That is a link to the paper form you can use to support your DD’s application if you can’t use the online form. It explicitly says not to include universal credit. 😊

@Justyou in case you don’t see this.

Justyou · 14/05/2020 14:04

Thank you so much!

My pleasure! I would expect your DD will get the maximum loan amount, like my DS, which is a weight off my mind.

mummmy2017 · 14/05/2020 14:28

I thought if you were under £25k a year your child got the full amount.

MillicentMartha · 14/05/2020 17:46

Exactly. You still have to prove it, though.
