Choices, choices

I'm a mature student who has received offers from all choices to study Biomedical Science. I'm hoping to study medicine after this degree.

  1. Kings College London
  2. University of Southampton
  3. University of Bristol
  4. University of Surrey
  5. University of Reading

Someone help me make a decision! Any experiences or knowledge that gives any of them an edge over the others?

@Gwynfluff I think you're right, just nervous about pressing the firm option on UCAS Grin

Another possibility is that if you get absolutely top marks for all your first year modules, it might be feasible to transfer to medicine. I know a few unis offer that as an option - do Kings?

Ginfordinner · 26/04/2020 11:12

DD's university does this.

titchy · 26/04/2020 12:28

Dd's does too. Maybe they're the same uni!

StudentMummy20 · 26/04/2020 16:11

@titchy they don't, only a few do. None of my choices do or they'd definitely be my firm choice. I know Brighton and Newcastle do.

Can ask what uni your dd's go to?

Newcastle

Exeter

Why didn't you apply for Brighton then? If you reckon you can travel from where you live to Southampton, Kings and Surrey then Brighton must be commutable as well?

StudentMummy20 · 26/04/2020 20:26

@titchy Brighton was just too far away if I'm honest, I moved back with my daughter to my mums in a bid to save money that I wouldn't be able to save otherwise. Brighton is a 3hr commute each way by train and a 2hr drive. Waterloo is around 45 mins by train or a 2hr drive even I was a driver, Southampton 30 mins by train and Guildford is around 40 mins by train.

Also, Brighton want you to have B in chemistry at A Level as part of the criteria to transfer after 1st year which I don't have.
