‘Benji’ excellent source of magnesium! Definitely a good breakfast.

bengalcat · 12/04/2020 12:25

@NewModelArmyMayhem18 not working today no , am tomorrow though and DP ( my second child lol ) has just put his order in for my chocolate brownies !

Benjispruce · 12/04/2020 12:36

Oh @NewModelArmyMayhem18 no it was meBlush. It was lush with an espresso Wink but I have since done 2, 1 minute planks to compensate Grin

Baytreemum · 12/04/2020 12:42

100% in the Easter eggs for breakfast group here! And yes! delicious with a coffee! Did anyone see that article in the Sunday Times about possible online uni in September and pressure for a fee reduction?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 12/04/2020 12:59

Haven't got round to reading TSTimes as yet - been involved in a long debate with DC about the lockdown. COVID-19 and more shallowly, Urban Outfitters' bargain reductions (which DS really rates and DD really doesn't).

@Benjispruce you are more than allowed! I didn't get any Easter eggs (signs but I really don't need the calories). All I really fancy now is a Flake

OP posts:
Baytreemum · 12/04/2020 13:31

Ooh a flake! Would kill for a non- essential flake!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 12/04/2020 13:38

@Baytreemum one of my favourite indulgences. Haven't had one for yonks but it would definitely be the right time to treat ourselves, don't you think????

OP posts:
Baytreemum · 12/04/2020 15:41

@NewModelArmyMayhem18 -definitely a good morale-booster!

Benjispruce · 12/04/2020 17:23

I was surprised to receive an egg as we don’t normally exchange them but apparently DH bought it just before lockdown in a bit of a panic as someone at work was surprised he didn’t normally get me one Grin. I didn’t get him one but I’m happy to share. Let’s hope uni won’t be online in September. Can’t accept that at the mo.
As for Flake, oooooh now you’re talking. I mean I do like 70% but there’s always a place for a flake. I’m drifting off now into a poppy field with a water colour.....might be the G&T taking effect.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 12/04/2020 17:55

@Benjispruce precisely that's where a Flack always takes me with or without a G&T or Wine

OP posts:
NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 12/04/2020 17:56

Flake even clearly the wine has already worked its magic

Happy Easter everyone, hope you’ve all had a lovely day, I’ve had a very long walk & DH & DS now on a bike ride (took a couple of bottles of beer with them as they obviously couldn’t stop at the pub) whilst I am at home sipping Prosecco & looking forward to the Roast Lamb dinner Grin.

ZandathePanda · 12/04/2020 20:16

I have been doing a fortnightly shop. Which means we have had no eggs for 6 weeks Sad. Easter eggs however were plentiful on the ends of each aisle so have loads of those. Tbh would really fancy a real chicken egg. Can’t do much baking either.

ZandathePanda · 12/04/2020 20:21

Glad you had a nice day Ragwort hope everyone else has too. The Easter egg hunt in the garden went well - Dds were very competitive just like old times! Looking forward to The Nest and it’s my designated glass of wine night too Grin. Anyone else watching it? I really want their house but it needs curtains!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 13/04/2020 09:27

@ZandathePanda well done for doing an Easter egg hunt!

FWIW I've had a plentiful supply of eggs in the house (and no, I've not stockpiled at all) since before the lockdown began. It's flour that's in short supply around these parts.

Not sure why but I've not fancied The Nest - maybe time to sit down to watch it. A slightly off-beat recommendation is Twin on BBC4 - it's in Norwegian with sub-titled but it's worth watching. It's kind of a thriller but in not as dark as they often tend to be.

OP posts:
ZandathePanda · 13/04/2020 10:16

NewModel we’ve loads of flour - swap you some for eggs?! Grin Much of the stuff I use flour for requires eggs so it’s just sitting there.
May look at twin. The Nest is good because it is a bit preposterous so you can’t take it seriously plus the filming of Glasgow and that house is gorgeous.
Was this a university thread once?!?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 13/04/2020 10:31

@ZandathePanda I was going to say we could make a virtual cake between us!

The Nest was reminding me of that other Scottish drama where the architect on maternity leave had her life taken over by her replacement, starring another LoD stalwart, Vicky McClure. I didn't really like that... Need to be more open-minded! I will give it a try - maybe I'd be better off binge-watching it in one sitting.

It did indeed but hey it's morphed along with the rest of life as we know it! DD (14) was saying how much she wants to go back to school already. She is missing her friends. Although she's very tech savvy, she said she feels she can be 'more in the moment' in person than via a hangout or facetime chat.

@NewModelArmyMayhem18 @ZandathePanda if you're looking for something good to watch I recommend The Split on iplayer.

ssd · 13/04/2020 10:59

Hi everyone, can I join the thread please? I have 2 ds's at uni and am wondering how it all going to pan out....

OTOH ds has the massive cream egg Easter egg mentioned above, but it's in his room so we'll out of bounds to my greedy hands 😂

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 13/04/2020 11:11

Welcome @ssd, the more the merrier.

No temptation here as the DC have removed their Easter eggs to their 'dens'.

I can understand why so many of our young DC are feeling pissed off by this. It's really not what they spent their entire school careers building up to, is it? Not so bad, IF universities resume as normal in the autumn but what if they don't.

On a related note, DS has not yet paid his deposit for his year 2 accommodation. Should we advise him to be going on ahead with doing so or leaving it as long as possible? Certainly don't want to be finding him/us liable for a whole year of rent if they end up having to study virtually next year (or at least for part of it)?

Hi there
Lurked for ages, please can I join too? I have twins. One in first year at Leeds Beckett and one who quit Uni pre Xmas and is thinking of going elsewhere in Sept (has an unconditional)Twin 2 is finding it really hard to get motivated to produce 3 x 2000 word essays by end of May. Its taken about a month to produce one !! So hard not to say anything.

Onesipmore · 13/04/2020 11:17

Hello @ssd, another newcomer here too.

Tonyaster · 13/04/2020 11:20

I'm dreading having to pay dd1s rent in September while she stays at home! I suppose her maintenance loan will cover it. Dd1 and dd2 don't get on particularly well and dd2 is not happy that she's back. I'm getting a bit fed up with dd2s attitude as it must be shite for dd1 and yet she's being really helpful and cheerful.

juicy0 · 13/04/2020 12:15

@newmodelarmymayhem18 DD has signed her tenancy agreement for next year in a private shared house and we are due to start paying in July. I'm hopeful that they will return to uni in sept, albeit with some special measure in place perhaps, and even if its virtual learning until xmas I'm sure she'd rather live there and enjoy something of a social life. She will be well and truly sick of being stuck at home by then!

simbobs · 13/04/2020 12:24

On completely non uni TV subject we are watching Twin on Bbc4 but always watch the foreign language series in this slot and often buy in others from Amazon. The Nest was ditched after 2 episodes as DH and I both agreed that we weren't that interested.

Other than that I have 2 DC now unsure what to do with themselves. DS is currently making a list of everything that needs replacing on his bike, guitar, phone and computer and will swiftly realise that he cannot afford everything if he also has to pay his rent for next term. Technically it is already overdue but we are holding out a slim hope that it may be waived. DD is entertaining a slim hope that she might be able to go back to France to complete her placement. She is still paying for her flat there as she could not get out of the contract. I, on the other hand, am feeling blessed to have them both home and have realised that this could be the last time we all live together.
