Just that, really. I didn't know you had to pay for it.

I paid for dd's.

Chickenitalia · 05/12/2019 19:27

Parent pays here. I don’t know of any school that would pay. It’s not compulsory to apply to uni after all.

lifeisgoodagain · 05/12/2019 19:30

Parents, directly for state school, on extras bill for private

noblegiraffe · 05/12/2019 19:31

God, schools can’t afford that! Plus not all kids apply.

MarchingFrogs · 05/12/2019 19:32

UCAS doesn't make a secret of it on its website...

I'm sure there must be schools somewhere that pay for it, but essentially, it is the applicant's responsibility.

From our two so far who have gone through the process, at one school, DS1 paid (well, I paid) direct and at another, we paid the school through ParentPay and then the school actually made the payment to UCAS.

MillicentMartha · 05/12/2019 19:45

I paid, state school.

drivingtofrance · 05/12/2019 19:46

Is this a new thing?

I don't recall paying for DS'?

MillicentMartha · 05/12/2019 19:47

No, not new.

Groovee · 05/12/2019 19:49

We paid!

Aragog · 05/12/2019 19:52

We paid for it. Did it a few weeks back for dd. She filled the form in at home online and then paid to submit. It then goes to school for checking and their bits to be added.

avocadochocolate · 05/12/2019 19:53

I paid. DC applied a few weeks ago.

AnnoyingSatsumaInMyStocking · 05/12/2019 19:55

We paid. DS completed and submitted the form with the payment I think.

lljkk · 05/12/2019 19:56

I don't remember paying for DD but she must have cadged the money off of me. I'm from another country & seem to recall paying something like $60 for each university application, 30 yrs ago. The UCAS system is a bargain.

I paid (for my own but applied through sixth form, I'm 21). Never heard of a school paying.

mimbleandlittlemy · 05/12/2019 20:16

Everyone I know has paid for their children’s UCAS, both state and private. It’s only £20.

LIZS · 05/12/2019 20:21

Normal to pay.

autumndreaming · 05/12/2019 21:13

Why on earth would the school pay!

MarchingFrogs · 06/12/2019 09:15

Why on earth would the school pay!

No idea without rummaging on their websites, but I suppose one might imagine that some of the, 'Look what wonderful things our disadvantaged sixth formers achieve' schools (sorry, not really meaning that to come over in a disparaging way) might?

fedup21 · 06/12/2019 09:19

150 kids in my DS’s year x £25 each. If the school paid for that it would be over £3000! It would pay for a TA for a term!

Abetes · 06/12/2019 09:40

I paid, dd at independent school.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 06/12/2019 09:44

I paid,state school.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 06/12/2019 09:48

My school paid, but I had to go in front of the committee and ask for them to fund it, provide evidence that I couldn't afford to and my parents wouldn't, and it was printed in the newsletter and the local paper.

'Look what wonderful things our disadvantaged sixth formers achieve'

Definitely that type of angle.

Comefromaway · 06/12/2019 10:45

Back in the day we had to pay twice, once for UCCA and once for PCAS.

Not looking forward to whebn ds applies as we will have UCAS & CUKAS fees to pay plus approx £50 audition fee per conservatoire.

Serin · 06/12/2019 17:33

School paid up front then asked us to reimburse.
It's a state school but quite well resourced by the parents association.
