If you could do it all again...

I have spent the summer looking through websites and prospectuses with DC. There are some really interesting courses out there and some quite niche only offered by one or two universities.

If you could do it all again what course would you choose?

I'll kick off with 'Peace Studies' Bradford University. The course sounds really interesting not sure about Bradford though.

DH says he fancies 'Meteorology ' at Reading University. I think that is the only university that has a dedicated Meteorology department.

Think I'd go for archaeology. So many places to choose from to do it at though.

I'm going into my second year of a degree which is a pathway to a career but if I could do a degree that was just for fun I would do sociology. Its such interesting subject but I think (I'm happy to be proved wrong) it would be quite career limiting.

I'd take a language, probably German and also theology. If I had to choose a place I'd say Edinburgh. Originally I studied history.

I did a very time-intensive course in London.

I'd like to know what it's like to study at a campus university or where everything is fairly close proximity.

I'd like to know what it's like to do a subject that you study purely out of interest, and where you get some free time. Maybe anthropology.

I did Ecology but if I could have my time again I'd do veterinary medicine.

I'd have been brave and gone for what I've really wanted to do - medicine.
I deliberately tried to sabotage my O levels as I knew my parents couldn't support me for seven years.
I'm in a professional role now, but still yearn after it sometimes.

I went to Bradford (40 years ago Grin), had a wonderful time. I didn't do the Peace Studies degree but it has always had a very good reputation and Bradford was the first to do it, not sure if other universities do it now.

I just had a look at the Bradford uni website, there was a quiz with six questions to 'recommend' your ideal course, I answered the questions and the course suggested was exactly what I did when I was a student there, clearly I haven't changed much in 40 years so perhaps I did make the right decision at the time Grin.

I am currently doing a second degree, just for fun, alongside working, volunteering and looking after a family. If I had my time over again, would I do my second degree at 18? Probably not, but I am loving studying theology now!

I would go for airline airport management always love travel and airports.

I wouldn't have gone to Durham. Would have quite happily done my original course - but I don't think I got the quality of experience or education there and I think the university has coasted on its name for decades. Plus when I went the class prejudice was rife and utterly unchecked by the university staff.

About to start a second degree but I don't think that was a route I would have gone down aged 18 - it's very much an interest I've developed in the light of being a parent and a parent of a child with special needs.

If I were 18 again and, assuming I'd done the right A levels (which I didn't), I'd go for medicine. I never really knew what I wanted to do at school but decided in my mid 40s that I'd have liked to be a doctor (GP).

I did think about doing a law conversion course after my first degree, but - like bengalcat - didn't think I was clever enough. It was only after I had met quite a few lawyers that I realised that I would have been!

If I were going to do another degree now, for fun, I'd probably go for music or history of art.

I always enjoyed geography and the environment, so geography or I might even chose Sustainable Development (same as DD)

Volcanology, or whatever leads to me being a volcanologist.

Or fine art with art history. And a Latin course as it'd be really useful to me now.

I don't know if I would have changed my uni course but I would have done Latin GCSE instead of music. And then I might have done Latin A level. And then perhaps I would have done some other sort of degree. But I came under a lot of parental pressure to do law, and did law and German. Bot many Law and Latin degrees out there!
