Foundation degrees?

How can I find which Universities offer this for History?

No special circumstances, just not meeting the grades needed for the 3 year course.

Most of the Foundation courses I’m seeing are for mature students or those that were in care/ from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Is there one place that collates all this information?

Thanks!

Do you mean 'foundation degree' or is it more 'foundation year' you're after? I'm not sure but I think there's a difference, with the former being geared more towards the sorts of groups you mentioned whereas the latter is the appropriate option for missed grades/non ideal subjects.

You're thinking of a Foundation Year - you can search on UCAS website, click the filter for foundation years and make sure to look at courses that have spaces (there is a filter for this also).

Most universities are offering them in sciences, not sure about history but ucas will list them, they are for anyone who doesn't have the correct entry requirements. Where depends a lot on what qualifications you do have - my dd got into history on bbd

My son is going to Southampton uni - foundation science to then do zoology.

Are you looking at clearing vacancies - i.e. he didn't meet his offers, or getting prepared for next year?

titchy · 22/08/2019 15:25

You'll probably need to look for 'Arts and Humanities' foundation year by the way, rather than specifically one for History

There are tons - UCAS website, go to courses section search for history, click on 'point of entry' select "foundation year".

They are desperate to get the extra 9k from you, you should have no problems getting a place.
