MMR immunisation for uni?

I have read a couple of posts in which people have mentioned mumps going around at university. As per the standard NHS schedule, DS had the MMR vaccine as a baby and then again around the time he started school. Looking at the NHS website, it suggests students only need an MMR booster if they haven't been vaccinated in accordance with the standard NHS schedule already. However, I thought I'd read somewhere that MMR protection can be wearing off by the time students start university. Does anyone know whether this is right? If so, do you know whether it's possible to get an MMR booster before going to university (either on the NHS or privately)?

Another practice nurse.
Mumps vaccine may well wear off over time but there's no national programme to revaccinate older students at the minute. You would have to source it privately.
If you had single measles, mumps, rubella vaccines as a child however, these aren't counted and you are entitled to 2xmmr vaccines one month apart on the NHS.

If you didn't get the Men ACWY at school, it is available up to the age of 25.

My doctor was unable to provide meningitis b vaccine on the NHS. My ds has it done at Boots, £220 for 2 injections a month apart.

Ouch, that's painful Crawley. I told DD to sign up for it as my DN & Dsil have both had forms of meningitis over the last 2 or 3 years. I think 24,000 year 12s are in the project.
