Not going to Uni but thinking about college

DD has received her A level results and whilst not great are ok but she has no idea what she wants to do for the rest of her life. She is not able to get to Uni with her results and is thinking of going to college to do a completely different course (she should have done this at 16 but she felt she would've done better by staying at school but that's another story!)

Where does she stand about being accepted to college and would she have to pay considering she is now over 18. I've been researching the local colleges but they all talk about post 19+ study. Would she be classed as this seeing as she isn't 19 until next year?

I'm trying to push her into an aprenticeship which will give her money whilst she does day release and the prospect of a job at the end of it but as she isn't sure of what she wants to do it's hard to find one that interests her. She is torn between working with animals and something to do with sport.

Hope somebody can help me - thank you Smile

Shes still so young ! Fine a course she is interested in then give the college a call. Ime they are very helpful and they offer so much.

They get 3 years post 16 FE education free so she should be able to do a year free.

DS wanted a apprenticeship instead of university and spent his last year of sixth form applying. Where you live seems to have a huge impact of what’s available. He went for some degree style and some professional qualifications apprenticeships. He found them much more competitive and of his mates that are now doing them they were the brightest or they had a family connection, or in the building trade. If he hadn’t of gone to uni he was looking at civil service/ local government with hopefully doing extra qualifications as a few of his friends are doing this route whilst being funded by their employers.
