What qualifications to teach in a college?

Hello, I'm currently on maternity leave and considering a slight career change in the near future.

I currently work as a nanny but I was wondering what sort of qualifications I would need to teach something like functional skills English/maths or/and perhaps early years as a lecturer?

I have A-level maths and English language and a degree in child psychology.

Would I need to fully retrain or can I study on the job (perhaps starting before qualification like an apprenticeship as a mature student?)

Failing that, how would I go around becoming a TA in perhaps secondary or college education.

If you've already got a degree you could take a pgce 16 = 19 years.

You'd need a relevant degree, with a reasonable result - a 2, i so as to get you into a relevant PGCE course. PGCE places are quite competitive.

I you have an really good degree - 1st class Hons from a top university - you can apply to the TeachFirst programme, where you do teacher training on the job, at "challenging" schools.
