I have been working as a support worker for people with autism for over a year now, and am really interested in becoming an occupational therapist (eventually specialising in autism).

I’ve been looking at my closest uni - Southampton - and you have to have been in relevant education within the last 3 years and a bunch of other things.

I’m 29 and left college at 18 having done childcare, I’ve not been in education since then. How on Earth do people retrain when that’s a requirement? I hope I’m missing something, as it’ll be a real bummer if I can’t pursue something I’m actually passionate about! Help please Smile

You need to look into access courses at your local colleges.

Yep Access courses are the way forward.

A work based NVQ would also count, if they still do them.

Thank you, that’s exactly what I needed!
