To apply or not to apply?

Deadline is looming for a vocational course I have been dreaming of doing for a few years. However it is full time and involves a long commute. There are only 12 places and hardly anywhere does this course. It would be hard on my family if I did it and involve juggling, plus probably giving up a job I like.
Option 2 is part time in another university- but literally only 4 places and only place in the country which offers this. I really like this place as well. Course is for 4 years though and also a long term commute. However it is less disruptive for the family and I could keep my job.

I have been thinking about this for such a long time and it is now crunch time. Do I apply for both and see what happens (might not get either). Or stop thinking about it and do neither as feel quite selfish even thinking about this.

Don't feel selfish because you want to do something you're interested in. Your life isn't a dress rehearsal or a support act for other people - grab every opportunity you can to make it the best it can be.

If I were you I'd apply for both and see what happens. You can think about what to do for the best if/when you get offers.

One thing is sure - if you don't apply you definitely won't get a place.

Totally agree with PP you have nothing to loose by applying for both and then take it from there..."where there is a will there is a way"

Thanks for your replies- very helpful and true about being a support act. I am going to apply for both and see what happens.
