Anyone know how to get into this, what courses are the best, which End Qualifications are the best, and is it actually something worth doing financially?
Is there a age limit? How fit do you have to be when you start off....oh...and just owuld like to know everything and anything about it, really!
Still pondering what I want to do, tbh...

Oh, my brother has just done this. I'll post again if I get more details out of him. He's 47 btw, he's fit but not muscley looking, certainly no bullet-head.

Were you able to find out more, tinker?

hi 3andnomore. I have just signed up to do the YMCA Fitness Trainer course run by a fairly local college. I've talked about becoming a personal trainer for about the last 8 years or so and finally I'm going to do it.
The first course if for 14 weeks and that's to get my Level 2 qualification (I was told I didn't need to do level 1 which I'm assuming is because I am a mature student).
Once I pass that (positive thinking!!) I can then appluy to do teh level 3 and Personal trainer modules which will be from january to June.
Our college runs these YMCA based course either two days per week (I think the hours were 9.30 to 5 one day and 9.30 - 4pm the other day) or on a saturday (9.30 - 5.30). The saturday course is much more intense because obviously you are there for less hours but that's the one I'm doing as the other course was fully booked. The cost for the first level 2 part is £600 and for the second part it's £1700.

I know a few personal trainers and they all rate the YMCA qualification. If you are going to work in a gym afterwards, I dont think you'll ever get mega rich out of it unless you can somehow get some celebrity clients. But at least you'll get job satisfaction (we hope).

good luck if you do decide to go for it.
